Expansion Plans Revealed For Norwegian Cruise Line's Private Island

Plans are afoot to expand Norwegian Cruise Line's exclusive Caribbean private island.

The cruise line revealed the hefty expansion plans for Great Stirrup Cay at Norwegian Aqua's glittering christening ceremony in Miami. The private island in the Bahamas is set to have a large new pool fitted, alongside a dedicated bar and kids' splash zone, as well as a new adults-only Vibe Beach Club, recreational area Horizon Park and relaxation area complete with swaying hammocks and Tiki-inspired amenities.

Alongside all-new pool areas, splash zones and swim-up bars, Great Stirrup Bay will also feature an expanded multi-ship pier, allowing the island to accommodate more Norwegian Cruise Line ships and guests.

The revamped Great Stirrup Cay will be open for guests later this year, including onboard the brand new Norwegian Aqua. Following her grand debut in Florida, Norwegian Aqua is now cruising around the Caribbean and, later this year, will be voyaging on a set of cruises from New York city to Bermuda.
