MSC Cruises has officially pulled back the curtain on the "Art of Cruising," revealing the intricate and culturally rich artwork set to define its newest flagship, MSC World Asia.

Scheduled to begin her inaugural season on December 4, 2026, the ship will serve as a floating gallery, blending state-of-the-art maritime engineering with subtle design elements inspired by Asia’s vibrant landscapes and heritage.

The announcement highlights a shift toward immersive environments, where every corridor and cabin tells a story of the Asian continent.

Masterpieces of the World Promenade

The heart of the ship’s artistic vision lies in its public promenades. Guests strolling through the World Promenade will be greeted by a series of large-scale installations designed to captivate and inspire.

• The Dragon Sculpture: Suspended 32 feet above the promenade, this 30-foot-wide stainless-steel dragon features nearly 700 mirrors and 3,000 LED lights. It is designed to illuminate the ship’s interior every evening, serving as a glittering focal point for guests.

• Japanese Carps by David Harber: UK-based sculptor David Harber has created large-scale koi fish sculptures for the promenade. Representing perseverance and strength, these organic forms are intended to echo the movement of the sea.

• The Water Droplet: Welcoming guests to the indoor pool is a nearly 8-foot-tall installation by artist Elisabetta Milan. Shaped like a water droplet, the piece evokes fluidity and lightness, grounding the aquatic space with a striking centre-piece.

Culturally Immersive Accommodations

MSC Cruises has ensured that the "Art of Cruising" extends into private spaces. The ship’s decks are named after iconic Asian cities, with corridor artwork specifically paying homage to the diversity of those locations.

Inside the cabins, the art is designed to complement the interior design through Asian natural motifs and colours, creating an immersive, theme-driven environment for every guest. Long-time partner Atelier Le Castel has also created bespoke pieces for the suites, as well as high-traffic venues like the theatre and the exclusive MSC Yacht Club.

Vietnamese Art and Folklore

A significant portion of the ship's visual narrative comes from Vietnamese artist Hoan Phan. His works, which mix traditional inking with digital rendering, will be displayed in select areas of the ship. Phan’s pieces bring legendary stories to life, including:

• Hạ Long Bay: A celebration of the Mother Dragon legend.

• Hồ Nguyệt Cô: A depiction of fox spirits from Vietnamese classical opera.

• Mount Fuji Inspiration: A piece capturing the harmony between man-made materials and nature.

Additionally, the Kaito Sushi Restaurant will feature vibrant koi paintings by Raimondo Briata, symbolizing the continuous journey of travel and cultural exchange.
