When Customer Support Executive Erin and her partner Phil stepped on board Princess Cruises' Star Princess to participate in a television filming project, they expected a fun-filled Caribbean getaway with a bit of camera time. What Erin didn't know was that Phil, alongside a conspiring film crew and dedicated ship staff, was preparing to pull off the ultimate romantic proposal.

Here is Erin's firsthand story of her magical engagement at sea, zip-lining adventures, and how one cruise inspired an entire cruise-themed wedding.

Erin’s Unforgettable Journey Onboard Star Princess

It all started back in December when we were approached by Crackit TV Production company. They were looking to film some guests on board the new Star Princess, and we absolutely jumped at the opportunity to get involved!

Once we stepped on board, the fun began immediately as we were filmed mingling with other guests, sampling delicious cocktails, and enjoying the lively atmosphere across the ship's bars and lounges.

One of the highlights of our filmed itinerary was a shore excursion in Cozumel, Mexico, where we hopped into little Scoot Coupes to drive through town behind a local guide.

He shared fascinating stories about Mayan traditions and ancient beliefs, making it deeply interesting and so much fun to drive - though I definitely had to tell Phil off more than a few times for driving our Scoot Coupe like he was racing in Formula 1!

Halfway through the cruise, the trip transformed from an exciting holiday into the most magical moment of my life when Phil proposed to me late one evening right on our private balcony, surrounded by quiet ocean waves and a sky full of stars.

It was completely unexpected, perfectly romantic, and absolutely amazing. We had become such close friends with the Crackit TV film crew during the trip that as soon as it happened, we couldn't wait to share the news with them.

To our complete surprise, they immediately teamed up with the Princess ship staff to pull out every imaginable stop for us. The crew whisked me off to the Lotus Spa salon to get my hair professionally styled while secretly coordinating with Phil back at the stateroom.

When I returned, the cabin had been completely transformed with fresh red roses, and a personal waiter was waiting to serve us a private four-course sunset meal right on our balcony with chilled champagne, signature cocktails, and even a custom, handmade engagement cake prepared by the ship's pastry chef.

The VIP treatment continued the following evening when they arranged an all-expenses-paid four-course dinner for us at Love by Britto, placing us at the best table in the entire restaurant.

Outside of the filmed activities, we had plenty of time to explore on our own. When we docked in Roatan, Honduras, we embraced our adventurous side by ziplining high through the lush jungle canopy, visiting a local sloth and monkey sanctuary, and finishing the day swimming in crystal-clear ocean waters right next to the ship. It was, without a doubt, the most extraordinary experience I’ve ever had.

Cruising has always held a special place in my heart, but this journey made it truly unforgettable - so much so that we’ve already booked our honeymoon on a cruise for next year, and our upcoming wedding is officially cruise-themed!
