Symphony of The Seas – Part 2

If have read my last blog you will know that I recently returned from a cruise on Symphony of the Seas. This time I want to tell you about the dining and bars onboard that we visited.

We had opted for the My Time dining which was in the Main Dining Room on Deck 4. This restaurant was solely for the My Time Dining and Main Dining Rooms on decks 3 and 5 were for the fixed dining. The restaurants were beautifully decorated and there was a good selection to choose from on the menu. As the restaurants are so big there were 6 desks outside the dining room for you to check in with the staff and then we were swiftly shown to a table. The staff were very attentive and we actually asked for a table in the same area for 4 nights as the 2 waitresses were like a comedy duo and always found time to come and speak to you, so big shout out for Theresa and Maria.

The first 2 nights we decided to dine in the Windjammer as we just wanted something light and didn’t want to sit down to a big meal. The selection of food, both hot and cold, was extensive and there was never a problem getting somewhere to sit

One of our favourite places for lunch was El Loca Fresh. This was situated on Deck 15 and was a Mexican style buffet restaurant. This was open from 7.30am – 10.30am for breakfast, serving breakfast burritos and other breakfast dishes with a Mexican twist. Lunch was served from 11.30 – 6.00pm serving Burritos, Tacos, Nachos, Chilli with all the different dressing and you could build you own. The only disappointment was that it wasn’t open in the evenings after 6pm.

As we were staying in a Central Park Balcony we also had a complimentary lunch included in either Johnny Rockets or Jamie’s on one of the sea days. We decided on Jamie’s as we had eaten in Johnny Rockets on other Royal Caribbean ships ( and Jamie’s would have been more expensive if we had to pay for it!) We could choose from the full menu and included 3 courses and as we had the Deluxe Drinks Package the drinks were also  included

We dined in Chops Grille one evening and this had a cover charge of $49 per person but was worth every penny. The service was fantastic and the waiters were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I went for the 6oz Fillet Mignon which was cooked to perfection and you could choose from about 6 sides to go with the steak but we decided on 3 between us which was plenty.

The Classic Caesar salad that I had for starters was also lovely and was a really big portion, not what you really need when you have a steak to tuck into and a dessert to face too. We did end up sharing a desert, one each would have been a step too far.

We didn’t go to Wonderland  to eat on this sailing as we had eaten there on Harmony of the Seas and for no other reason than we knew we had another cruise to get through the following week. We did visit the Bar in Wonderland though which serves 2-4-1 drinks from 5pm until 7pm  including cocktails which is ideal if you didn’t have the Drinks Package.

Cocktails in Wonderland

As my husband isn’t a big Fish Fan so we didn’t try Hooked either which is new for this class of ship as it wasn’t on Harmony of the Seas. Like Wonderland they also had a Bar that did 2-4-1 drinks from 5pm until 7pm. I did try one of their “speciality’s” which was vodka and tequila  with an oyster in it which tasted like a liquid Prawn Cocktail!

Cocktail in Hook

A cruise on an Oasis Class ship wouldn’t be the same without going to the Bionic Bar and the Rising Tide Bar. We did concoct our own Cocktails at the Bionic bar which was fun and also included when you have the drinks package.

The Park Café in Central Park was also a great place to go for Breakfast and was easy to get too from our cabin. There were pots of fruit already made up and a choice of all bread types including Bagels and Rolls that you could have filled with a selection of fillings from the normal breakfast bacon, sausage and eggs to Salmon and Cream Cheese and these were prepared while you waited. There was also  mini boxes of Cereal if you wanted to be reminded of home.

We did manage to grab a hotdog from the Dog House on the Boardwalk too and of course Pizza from Sorrento’s on the Royal Promenade on the way to bed at the end of the night.

We didn’t get a chance to have a drink in Vintages, which is the wine bar in Central park, and didn’t get a chance to dine in 150 Central Park or Izumi as there just wasn’t enough days. There’s only one thing for it and that is we will just have to get ourselves onboard again sometime soon to finish off what we started.
