Azura for a day, Love the ship and met a Colleague from Cunard days.

I have just spent 2 days with P&O learning about Iona and also getting to visit Azura. I am happy to say Azura is looking good but is going to look a lot better after April 2020 when she will have had a refit. The crew were friendly and the public areas were very nice. |There is also information everywhere on the ship about their drinks offerings.

P&O says it has made changes to its on board drink offering following feedback from passengers who are looking for drinks to be included..

Guests cruising for five or more nights with P&O will be able to take advantage of the four options, which P&O says have been designed to suite varied tastes and apply to all on board restaurants, bars and cafes.

P&O’s “Ultimate Drinks Package” (£39.95pp per day) includes a large choice of beers, spirits, cocktails, liqueurs and wines by the glass. Bottled water, draught soft drinks, long life juices, Costa coffee, teas, hot chocolates and non-alcoholic cocktails are also part of the offer. What do you think? Could you get value for money from this?

Items exceeding £6.95, such as bottles of wine, are excluded but benefit from a 20% discount.

A non-alcoholic drinks package (£19.95 pp per day) is also being introduced featuring unlimited bottled water, draught soft drinks, long life juices; Costa coffee; teas; hot chocolates and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Hot drinks packages are available for £10.95 pp per day, which entitle guests to unlimited Costa coffee, hot chocolate and teapigs teas.

A children’s drinks package, meanwhile, includes draught soft drinks (Pepsi, lemonade, tonic and soda), selected long life juices, hot chocolate, and fruit squash or cordial by the glass.

The children’s package costs £7.95 pp per day and is available to any child aged 16 and under.

So for a couple on a 14 night cruise its almost £1120, do you think this is worth it or will you still take a 1 litre bottle of spirits with you on the ship? I would love to hear your comments. Will you be adding the drinks to your cruise?

The package is complimentary for children who are travelling in the same cabin as adults purchasing the Ultimate Drinks Package.

With a vast range of drinks included, guests will be spoilt for choice and can try new wines, artisan gins or cocktails.

Drinks packages should be purchased during the first two days of the cruise. Loyalty discounts will be applied when purchasing a drinks package.

Guests who purchase P&O’s Ultimate Drinks Package are also entitled to a 20% discount on a variety of other soft drinks, mixers, bottles of wine or other drinks which are not included in the package.

I really think there is no such thing as free drinks and if you want to drink on your holiday then you have to pay. I think there will be people with a headache in the morning trying to get value for money from this package…
