Tattoo Ahoy!

Tattoos at Sea, well, I think I have heard it all now.

The New Scarlet Lady – The First Virgin Voyages Cruise Ship will have a Tattoo Parlour of all things on-board!

The New Parlour to be Named Squid Ink! Will also offer Body Piercing!

Forgive me If I am wrong but this does not sound at all like a Cruise Ship!

Don’t get me wrong my Dad was in the Royal Navy and had many Tattoo’s which are an age-old Seafaring Tradition, But I just can’t see the average cruise passenger popping along for a quick tattoo?  What do you think?

Virgin are going all out on this and have teamed up with the World famous ‘Tattoo Ink’ to make sure they get the very best on board.

Tom McAlpin, president and chief executive officer for Virgin Voyages said when interviewed, “Our sailors are looking to make lifelong memories, and we think there’s no better way to commemorate their first voyage with us than with a souvenir they’ll never lose track of.”

Despite this fact, I still think they are not going to be queuing up around the block for this attraction.

We have been told that when she launches in 2020 she will have 2 fulltime Resident Tattoo artists on board apparently handpicked by ink industry guru Lou Rubino Jr.

Squid Ink will also have guest artists, some of whom you may recognise if you follow any of the many TV programs about tattoo studios and artists.

Virgin have assured that all tattoos will be created with original vegan ink, just in case you were wondering. Personally, I did not know such a thing existed but then again, I am no expert.

As I mentioned earlier, they will also offer a range of body piercing and permanent makeup treatments.

So what do you fancy?

Lou Rubino Jr., the owner of World Famous Tattoo Ink, said “As global acceptance of tattoos and body art continues to grow, partnering with Virgin Voyages gives us the unique opportunity to bring colour to places people might have never thought possible before. We couldn’t be more excited to leave our mark on the sea travel industry.”

Virgin also says it will encourage its staff to express themselves freely if they want to have Tattoo’s done as well.

So, there you have it. What is your opinion on this?

Is it Fun, Freaky, a Fad?

Have your say now.
