A Travelling life for Me!

People sometimes ask me how I come to be doing this job? Where did my fascination with Travel and the Sea begin? Well I suppose my Dad being in the Royal Navy may have had something to do with it.  Here he is in his Uniform looking very dapper and with him is my stunning Mum who at almost 77 Years old still looks amazing.

My Dad had this old case. His Mob case he called it. It was tatty and battered and covered in stickers from places around the globe. Inside he kept his photos and treasures from the places he had visited, postcards he had sent home and letters from my mum and bits and pieces he had bought. I used to love going through it with him whilst he told me stories of the places he had visited.

My Mum had so many things from Chinese Dresses to jewellery from all over the world. Moonstones, opals and so much more. My sisters and I used to love dressing up with them.

However, it did not make me want to run off and join the navy.

Growing up I wanted to be a Customs Officer. A bit left field you might say but not really as my Dad joined the Customs when he left the Navy.

Maybe it was the Uniform thing. Or perhaps he just liked being in charge. Now I know where I get that from. He did not spend time in an airport in the Customs, he worked on the river ports and wharfs where I grew up and I was fascinated by it all.

When I left school, I planned to go to University but doing my A-levels I realised it was not what I wanted so I changed and went to do a Business Course with Travel as my major option.

When I left College, I got a job in a local Agency where I had done my work experience and I loved it.  27 Years on and I was still there as Manager and still loving it. Travel is not really a job it is a passion.

My very First Holiday with my Husband (to be then) was a Club 18-30 to Ibiza.  What an experience that was I can tell you.

Since then we have travelled to many places both as a couple and later as a family.

Our favourite few being Jersey, Scotland, Norway, Jamaica and Florida.

I know they are a world part but we love them for different reasons. In fact, to be honest I don’t think I have ever been anywhere I hated. I love seeing new places, tasting exotic foods, meeting new and exciting people and experiencing new cultures.

I love Cities like Rome, London and New York, I love stunning scenery like Scotland and Norway, I of course love Cruising and the fact that you can enjoy so many cultures and have so many experiences on one trip.

Just after this was taken we were told off by the local constabulary for paddling!

I guess I just have a wanderlust.
