P&O’s family favourite to become Adult Only…..

after her re fit next March. Currently P&O have two child free ships, Arcadia and Oriana after recently selling their other adult only ship Adonia. From April next year Aurora will officially become a child free ship. Great news for those passengers who want the option of an adult only cruising, there will now be more choice than before , but of course not so great for those families already booked on Aurora for next year. P&O will offer them a  full refund and also a discount from a future cruise…if they do manage to find a new cruise they want to book.

They will be able to choose from four family friendly ships…Britannia, Azura, Ventura and not forgetting family favourite Oceana. Although those passengers already booked for next year I think will have booked very early and availability won’t be as good especially for those cruising during the school holidays. I do hope those affected by this news find themselves a new cruise and don’t miss out on next year’s cruise holiday with P&O.

I think cruising over the years has become so much more family friendly than it ever was. The tradition of cruising has changed with so many more families every year choosing to cruise. There are so many more huge family friendly ships being built. All catering for children whether that be teenagers or toddlers the choice has never been better. Perhaps this huge focus on family cruising has left a gap for the adult only style of cruising in the market as a whole.

I believe P&O are looking to restore the balance for their customers. It’s all about choice and not just for families but for those passengers who want to enjoy their cruise without children, and I know there are lots of them out there.

So have P&O made the right move….They say they have responded to guest feedback and have carried out extensive research resulting in this huge change for Aurora. I guess time will tell and passengers who have enjoyed the adult only cruise experience can now do so on a newly refitted ship.

Are you a family booked on Aurora for next year and now you are having to find an alternative cruise?

Was there an unfair gap ..did those wanting an adult only ship have much more of a limited choice than others? Is this what is needed…I think that Aurora will be a welcome addition to the adult only market and there will still be enough choice out there for everyone else.

I would as always love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks as always for reading Abbi x
