It’s all change for Thomson…

One of the things I love so much about the cruise/travel industry is that it is always changing , there is always something new and exciting on the horizon. After being away for a couple of weeks I have come back to Thomson cruises being re branded..and later this month they will become  Marella Cruises. I have to say I love the new name which means ‘shining sea’ in Celtic.

All of the ships will become Marella, so there will be Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2,  Marella Explorer (she will join the fleet in May 2018) , Marella Dream, Marella Celebration. The only ships in the fleet that won’t be re branded are Thomson Majesty leaving the fleet in November this year and the Thomson Spirit and she will finish service in October 2018.

The re brand will be to give Thomson cruises their very own identity separating them from the European cruises. In the words of the cruise director “we don’t want British guest to be confused with the group’s cruise business in Europe”

Alongside the re brand there is exciting new destination news which I for one think will be very successful.

For the first time Marella cruises will sail out of Barbados. Marella Explorer and Marella Celebration will be the two ships sailing the Caribbean from Barbados and will give passengers a great opportunity to combine their cruise with a stay on the island.

Brand new for winter 2018 will also be the introduction of the Asia itineraries with Marella Discovery sailing from home port Lankawi, Malaysia, and there will also be an option of passengers joining the ship from Bangkok, Thailand.  These sailings with be adult only, there will be overnight stays in port and they will be All -inclusive. I for one am very excited to see the 14 different itinerary options.

Thomson, or as I should now say Marella Cruises are always a popular choice. They include direct flights, gratuities, all-inclusive drinks (selected sailings), great destinations and are very British in style. I think the new re brand and new itineraries are going to be hugely successful for them. If you would like more information on this cruise line, or have any questions at all I would love to hear from you. As always your feedback is very welcome.
