My favourite “C” word!

Yes it’s that time of year again, kids are back to school after a LONG summer break, the nights are getting darker, mornings are getting chilly this can only mean one thing CHRISTMAS is coming!!!!! Its actually only 96 days to be exact and the count down has officially begun.

For most that means months of planning for the big day, racking our brains for that perfect gift for our loved ones, but there is always those people that leave there Xmas shopping to the last minute and traditionally we always get them customers calling around the 20th Dec looking to book a last min trip as a xmas present.

Personally the medieval centre of Bruges is my favourite city to get in the festive spirit. A frosty visit to its cobbled streets which are alive with festivities, glowing with Christmas lights is amazing. To add to the atmosphere, an ice rink is built on the Bruges Market Square close to the many food and festive gift stalls where you can pick up beautiful decorations, stocking fillers, local seasonal delights and not forgetting a glass of traditional mulled wine.

Bruges is also a chocolate lover’s paradise! As well as the numerous chocolate shops, do not miss the   Chocolate Museum  or Pralinette – Bruges’ largest and best praline store. Finish your day off with a horse a draw carriage ride around the city or maybe enjoy a traditional Belgium waffle and hot chocolate in one of the many local cafes.

Alternatively why not treat your self to a weekend of fun, relaxation, some Christmas shopping at the Markets, fine dinning on the run up to the festive season, if only to stock up on all that lovely Belgian chocolate and Cherry beer ready for your Xmas visitors.

As well as Bruges you also have the options of cruises to Paris, St Peters Port, Amsterdam and Dublin all offering their own mini breaks this Christmas.  So if you have a family member who you are totally stuck for ideas this year act now to avoid that last minute rush.
