I touched previous on our culinary experience with the dining options on board Celebrity Eclipse but this week I wanted to tell you more about how we got on. Our mine dining room in the evening was Moonlight Sonata which was beautifully designed very chic and modern.

As a busy family we knew fixed dining wouldn’t suit us to be ready for the same time each evening, therefore we choose to try “Celebrity Select dining” for our first family cruise and overall we found the open dining very positive. Each night no matter how early or late we requested a table generally we waited no longer than 15-20 mins however most nights they found our same table straight away.

We found the variety of  dishes great each day, there was always a good choice of difference meals and in addition to the main menu they offered “Timeless favourites” which included classic dishes like Steak, Chicken, French onion soup, cheesecake or chocolate fudge cake.

As mentioned before their attention to looking after my husbands allergy to nuts was amazing. Each night after our meal (Without requesting) our waiter would bring the following days menu out for my husband for him to order the following evening meal. By pre ordering his meal early the next day they went to great lengths to make sure his dinner was prepared and cooked in a totally different area of the kitchen to ensure there was no cross contamination. Also if the meal would normally have nut in the recipe they would make him a totally nut free version. This is the first time in nearly 20 years of travelling abroad that my husband has received this kind of attention and it was reassuring to have this usual worry looked after.

For lunch and Breakfast we really enjoyed the Ocean View café for their buffet service. The wide variety of food was amazing especially if like me you have fussy eaters amongst you.

During breakfast we had the options of full cooked English breakfast, American treats including our favourite pancakes and waffles , fruit, cereals, pastries, Omelette stations, continental cheeses and meats, smoothies and soooooooo much more.

Lunch time was similar to round the world in 60 minutes……….. with traditional dishes like English carvery or fish n chips, American burgers and hog dogs, Italian pasta also Indian, Chinese , Mexican, Fish options, Salad bars, Soup or just a simple baguette and crisp. There really was something for everyone, and if you didn’t fancy moving from your sunbed there was always the option to grab a burger and fries from the Mast Grill by the pool.
