Adonia believe it!

Well it’s been a very active week in the cruise world, with probably the biggest news coming from Azamara who announced in a major move that they have acquired P&O’s much loved adult only Adonia!!!!

The 30,000-tonne 704 passenger ship will join the luxury brand and undergo a  refurbishment before being renamed as the Azamara Pursuit and take pride of place with their current fleet members Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest in March 2018.

The new “Azamara Pursuits” renovations are expected to follow along the lines and match the fleets upmarket décor, carrying on their popular Boutique hotel at sea feel, and allow Azamara to expand their itineraries further adding to even more unique destinations the much larger vessels cannot reach.

President and chief executive of Azamara Club Cruises Larry Pimental said: “We are pleased to expand our portfolio by 50%, allowing us to visit even more regions of the world through the acquisition of this sister ship.

“Our loyal guests and travel partners have asked for this expansion for a long time; we are very pleased to deliver this to them.”

Adonia’s last cruise with P&O will be on 23rd Feb until 9th March and her final port before the move will be Barbados.

However exciting for Azamara fans, this move has not gone down well with P&O guests who have been effected  by the change. Passengers that were booked on sailing’s after March 2018 have been contacted directly with various options.

For those left disappointed about the news of the Adonia’s sale, hope was not lost as Fred Olsen swooped in to save the day. They reached out to all those who’s cruise has been effected with a great offer.

Guests can book any 2018 or 2019 Fred. Olsen cruise of seven nights or more, that is currently on sale and receive discounts if they have been affected by the cancelled Adonia sailings.

Discounts include:

-£100 per person discount off the cruise fare (applicable to cruises of seven to eleven nights in duration)

-£200 per person discount off the cruise fare  (applicable to cruises of twelve nights or more in duration)

-This offer is valid on bookings made from Thursday 28th September 2017 until Tuesday 31st October 2017

Guests can add a promotional code at the time of booking: ADONIA17, but proof of the cancelled Adonia booking must be provided by Tuesday 7th November 2017. If Fred Oslen does not receive proof of the original booking, the cruise fare will revert to full price.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Have you cruised with either Adonia or with Azamara?

Do you think it is a good move by this luxury cruise line?

As always please let me know.

Until next time
