My day on Magellan…

Last week Cruise and Maritime’s ship Magellan was in Newcastle Port of Tyne, so i was lucky enough to go and do a ship visit for the day with my colleague Lauren. I must say i was very pleasantly surprised by the ship!

She is a mid sized ship and caters for people who enjoy Traditional British cruising, she carries around 1250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks.

We got a full tour of the ship and first looked at the public lounges and facilities, there is lots of space and areas to sit on board. Magellan’s main show lounge was very impressive which spreads over two decks which is where the evening shows take place. Then there’s the also the Captains club, Hampton’s Lounge bar, Sinatra’s Lounge bar and also the new Taverner’s Pub which has just been added this year, it’s a traditional British style pub with British beers and larger being served here, it’s a great place to enjoy screened sporting events.

Other facilities include the Livingstone Library if you want to just sit and relax whilst reading a book, Casino Royale, The Mall great for a spot of shopping and also the Jade Wellness centre and beauty salon which i thought was a lovely place to go if you wish to treat yourself to a massage or sauna etc.

She has 2 pools on board and also 3 whirlpools and extensive areas to just sit back and relax in the sun.

We then we on to take a look at some of the cabins and they are a very good size which can most be made into either twins or doubles, they have both inner and ocean view cabins plus spacious Junior, De luxe and Royal Suites for that extra bit of luxury which also have a seating area and balcony.

After our tour we got the chance to have lunch in one of the main dinning rooms, the Kensington Restaurant – the food was delicious especially the chocolate souffle for desert! They have another main restaurant called the Walforf then the more informal Raffles Bistro for a more casual dinning. All restaurants were beautifully set out with ample tables for dinning and food to suit every taste.

All in all she is a great ship.. if you would like any more information or would like to book a cruise on Magellan then feel free to contact me on 0333 300 2636.
