Royal Caribbean to replace Big Ben

So Big Ben has been silenced for much needed renovation work to Elizabeth Tower, the UK has gone mad about it and even the MPs are crying over it, if only they were so much more passionate about real issues in ours and our neighbouring countries.

4 years of no bonging, which does seem to be an awful long time, plenty of opportunity for the builders to claim some dodgy expenses.

Any how, I look forward to the Great British Party we will have in 2021 when Big Ben start to bong again.

In the meantime however Royal Caribbean have offered a solution to the peace.

A letter with some humour to it was addressed to Mr Speaker read like this-

The letter from Royal Caribbean reads: ‘Having chimed– almost –unbroken for the past 157 years, we’ve heard The Great Bell will be out of action for four years and were compelled to try and help.

‘Rather than leave the capital in silence, the Royal Caribbean team have put in a word with our UK and Ireland managing director, Ben Bouldin (the other Big Ben), and he would be more than happy to lend you one of our ship’s horns until 2021 to play from Parliament Square.

To keep as close as possible to our great traditions, we could specially adapt our horn to strike every hour to the note of E – accompanied by four quarter blasts every 15 minutes. Let us know if this floats your boat (ship)…’

Not sure how serious Royal Caribbean are with this but i for one would rather the peace over the London skies rather than a ship horn, there is a place for everything and a ship horn made for a 200,000 tonne ship is not meant for London.

This has bought a few reactions from the public and mostly cruise fans, what do you think?
