Table mountain, Cape Town

As I have said in my previous blog we did make it up the mountain , probably the hottest day, about 35 degrees! As Dean was born in SA he got the trip for free, you do need to provide an authentic SA ID number to qualify. otherwise about R255 pp

Did you know that Table mountain has voted on the the New 7 Wonders of nature in 2011 ? The cable car has been operating sine 1929 and to date more than 25 million people have enjoyed using it , the new cars have a moving floor which rotates and allows views from all around, really pretty at night to see all of the peninsula .

Some of the views for you to see, can you spot the polo mint ?? Football stadium

Waiting for the return journey down, beware of the wait for this, pick your timing carefully, we waited about 20 minutes, there is no real seating areas, always carry some water with you, anyone with difficulties needs to let them know, we did see one or two people in wheelchairs, it can be done, but there will be limitations of how far you can get across the top.

You can pre book on line www.webtickets.co.za I think you may save a little, they are valid for 7 days so if the cable way is closed you have not lost your money , just go another day. It rarely closes, the wind , or Cape doctor as the locals call it, can sometimes be too strong and for safety they will close. Maintenance is normally during August (winter) so be very sure to check before going then.

Uber cabs will take you you right to the base post , depending where you are, at a reasonable rate, at least we thought so.

If you do get a chance to visit this beautiful city, please take a trip to the top, it is well worth it.
