Cruise ships are not like taking a bus, there wont be another one along in a minute !

home office

The title may sound harsh, but unfortunately there are people that think “it may do that trip again” well yes it will but not the next day and sometimes not even the next month. My favourite are the re-positioning cruises , this is when the ships are coming over for the summer , or returning for the winter. Now this is not everyone, people are generally okay, but every now and them I will be asked when the navigator of the seas will come from FLL back to Southampton again, well that will be April next year (2018) , I then get asked why ?  Shall I leave that one alone now, enough said.

The really difficult ones are for me the Southampton sailings in the summer holidays, especially the family RCI ships , they tend to do a two week duration I will use Independence as an example, she is doing three sailings that fit into the school holidays (unless you take the children out early!)

This ship at full capacity only holds 4300 passengers that is a total of 12900 people, the independence is very popular, people have very often already booked on board for the next season, it is not a lot of people is it? She cannot do more than this, they will not add any extra cabins, FULL on a cruise ship really does mean FULL

They also limit the amount of 3 or 4 share cabins, someone asked me why the other day , here is a very quick case scenario,

Cabins = 1815 lets say they put 4 passengers in each of these this will be 7260 passengers, can you imagine this? just not possible , the capacity is 4356 to be precises, so as the ship is selling they know when the capacity has been reached, at this point they will not put more than two people in a cabin, non negotiable , will not change, so the families now have to book two cabins , and pay four adult prices

I suppose the moral of this blog , dont miss the bus (boat) and book early to avoid getting frustrated and paying more than you need to
