Back from Africa!

Well what a trip. a lovely 8 nights in Cape Town, seeing all of my friends and generally eating/drinking too much, there was even one lazy day by the pool !!

We had a great flight on the new A380 from Birmingham to Dubai , what a plane , the leg room was amazing and the seats wider than normal , I know this to be the case as we travelled on with the Boeing 777, a good flight, just a long nine hours from Dubai to Cape Town

My son, Dean, celebrated his 22nd birthday in style, with a trip up table mountain, it was around 30 degrees and the wind had dropped, sweltering

Just one of the views from the top, as he was born in Cape Town he got the trip on the cable car FREE ! the rest of us adults paid R255 pp (£14 not bad considering you can spend hours up there if you want to, there is also an option of climbing up and returning down or vice versa, not for the faint hearted in that heat,  we took the car both ways.

The birthday boy !!

So this is the view going down

A great day out, if anyone decides to to this I recommend getting the open top bus from the waterfront, cost of R190 pp (£12) and afterwards you can hop back on and take in Camps bay while returning through green point , or order an Uber cab, my new best friend, they were fantastic and everyone uses them , really decent rates, pay cash or each time is an international transaction on your card, very reliable.

Eating our is still cheap for us the current exchange rate is £1 = R17 this has dropped thanks to the pound getting weaker , in January this year it rose to £1 = R24 !!! when you think one kilo of ribs was only R240 absolute bargain

More on my next blog , I have to collate all of the photographs.

Back at work on Monday , and not many days left in 2016 , conference on 15th-8th so still get another little trip in !
