Indy is almost back in the UK! More news on her Refit!

Royal Caribbean certainly have been splashing the cash recently and have put aside $800 Million for a ‘Royal Amplified Programme’ which will see a fleet wide modernisation across all ships under the Royal Caribbean Banner which means some big changes to some of the most popular ships.

When it comes to over the top, bold features Royal Caribbean know how to do it best, currently having 3 of the Biggest Ships in the World, Allure of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas, and with Symphony of the Seas set to sail in a couple months time, but there is always room for another meaning they will top the charts with 5 of these Mega Ships.

Its been much anticipated to see quite what Independence of the Seas is having done on her refit this year and to be honest I haven’t seen so much fuss, one would think that this is a brand new ship coming, she even has taster cruises to show off the new touches!

Well the new big feature that Royal Caribbean have unveiled is the ‘Skypad’ this will be a set of top deck trampolines which is not big news as this was announced in November but what they didn’t mention is that they would include ‘Virtual Reality’ but then I do think this is a little un-needed – yes it’s a bit of fun but when you are on one of the highest points of the ship – don’t you want to take in the views? So when getting on you would be strapped in to a harness and put on the headset and be transported to the surface of the moon.

They have said that this would be included in the cruise fare to use the ‘Skypad’ but could be changed to come with a cover fee based on demand!

This is only one of the changes, she will also have a pool side fish and chip shop, a sweet ship, a new arcade, slides and an Escape Room! Lots of new features to look forward too.

Are you booked to go onboard?

Royal Caribbean still are yet to announce the UK sailing for 2019 but it is in speculation that 2020 will bring a Quantum Class ship back to Southampton to do a season, however when they removed Independence of the Seas before there was so back-lash so we will have to wait and see what Royal Caribbean will do for 2019 and 2020. They are running behind as most are already out for next year!
