Carnival to Nab Vista 3 off P&O Australia but at a cost!

It has recently been announced that Carnival will release a third Vista Class ship, the vessel was due to be built and launched under the P&O Australia label but in recent days that has been washed out, and Carnival have said that they will have it.

This is not unusual for a ship to swap ownership before being built, take the Arcadia in the P&O fleet, she was originally being built to be a Holland America ship, Then she went across to being the Cunard Queen Victoria before P&O decided she would be best used under there care, as Carnival Corporation own P&O, Cunard, Carnival, Holland America and P&O Australia this method seems to be fairly common, and ownership can change through a ships lift, take the Sea Princess which was loaned to P&O from 2003 to 2005 when see become one of the previous Adonia. Carnival Corporation have the power and the huge number of ships to be able to move then around to what suits the current markets.

Although this move doesn’t come with no strings attached, although Carnival will get the new ship, it has to exchange one of its current vessels and it was announced that they will pass ownership of the smaller 3,000 passenger Carnival Splendor to P&O Australia in 2019, although not an old vessel as only launched back in 2008, I can help feeling that the Australian are getting the short straw in this draw, but then again we can only wait and see where Carnival decide to base Vista III.

Carnival Vista that launched last year has been incredible popular, it’s the first time in many years that Carinal have based a vessel in European waters, and majority of the guests that have cruised on here have been converted to cruising’s, Carnival don’t have the best of reputations within the UK market as many believe they are just party ships designed for the American Market, similar to what the American’s may think of P&O.

Carnival Vista will be joined by the Carnival Horizon in early 2018 so more details to come on that soon and then Carnival Vista III which is supposedly going to follow in the theme of the Sea with its name like Vista and Horizon will launch in 2019.

Much to look forward to! Did you get on the Carnival Vista and what did you think?
