Big News for Celebrity Cruises!

Celebrity Cruise Lines are one of the most sought-after cruise lines to sail with, they have won so many awards and the Celebrity Eclipse has been one of the most popular ships to sail from the UK.

You only have to look at the availability of some of the 2019 cruises already and you will see how popular Celebrity are, I was looking at a Cruise on the larger Celebrity Eclipse today around South America for the middle of April 2019 and amazing to see that apart from 3 Celebrity Suites, the Suites are completely sold out, Aqua Class completely sold out – quite unbelievable but they are the one cruise line you tend to find do not drop the prices.

Celebrity offer what they call Modern Luxury aboard all the ships in the Celebrity Fleet, with the smaller Millennium Class offering the more exotic and itinerary driven sailings to the Solstice Class offer the larger busy ports of the Med to the Caribbean to Australasia.

Well there has been some more exciting news in the Cruise Industry last week as Celebrity announced that the Celebrity Edge, which is the new Celebrity Ship to join Celebrity in late 2018 will be sailing in Europe.

One of the things I love about Celebrity is they are not driven by size, where we have the likes of Royal Caribbean, NCL and MSC – it’s all about size and, yes the bigger ships have more facilities but also considerable more people

Celebrity Edge will be roughly 117,000 gross tons which is smaller than the Solstice Class which is 129,000 gross tons but will be about Luxury and bringing that connecting with the sea ever closer, with the use of large open areas facing on to the sea, endless amounts of living plants and the new innovation to hit the brand – the ‘Magic Carpet’ which is fixed to the side of the ship, and will go from the pool deck right down to the waterline, offering a unique experience be it having a meal or a drink, and this will double up as a tender access area.

It has been announced that Celebrity Edge, will sail from Fort Lauderdale to Southampton, the date yet to be set as she will have a showcase whilst in the UK so will likely be in Southampton for a couple of days before leaving on the 15th May and sailing to Rome. Guests that don’t want to do the Southampton to Rome will then have a choice of itineraries around the Med sailing from Rome.

So it is likely that we will not see the Reflection in the Med in 2019. Having checked all she has scheduled at the moment is for the 16th May is a 10 night Iceland cruise from Dublin to Dublin, Celebrity have increased interest in Dublin from 2018 when they have based Celebrity Eclipse from the popular port, so we could see more cruise from Dublin.

Will you be sailing on the Celebrity Edge in 2019?
