Around the World in 245 Days and £200,000.00 Later!

Word Cruises are becoming very much the in thing with Cruisers these days. Once upon a time, it used to be only Cunard and P&O but now everyone seems to be doing them from Princess, MSC and Cruise and Maritime through to the Luxury lines such as Crystal, Oceania and Regent.

They alternate in length with the South America Voyages ranging from around 75 days up to the typical Full World Cruise at around 110 nights.

I once thought no one could top Oceania – around the World in 180 days but as always one tries to better another and this time comes from the new thing in Cruising! Viking Ocean Cruises! I have seen a huge increase in interest in Viking so much so that I have had more asking for Viking than the other luxury lines combined – One might think this is because they are so new – but they really do seem to live up to Expectations. Viking has claimed that this is the longest continuous world cruise itinerary ever sailed.

Well, Viking has topped the charts with a World Cruise, made up of 245 nights! The cruise will depart from London on the 31st August 2019 and not return to the 3rd May 2020. It seems crazy to think that you would leave pretty much at the end of the Summer and return at the start of the next and after the winter we have just had – does seem rather appealing, don’t you think?

This cruise is undertaken by the Viking Sun which entered service last year and weighs just 47,800 gross tons with 930 passengers and 570 crew.

Now, this is Viking, so the price is going to live up to the length of nights but starts from £66,990.00 per person! Similar in price to one of the top Queens Grill Suites on the Cunard but it is 245 nights and does include tours in every port, tips, complimentary visas in some ports, and pretty much all your drinks and if you book before the end of the year you get up to $2000.00 to spend on board and $4000.00 for extra tours.

You can break this up and do 127 nights from London to Los Angeles or 119 nights from Los Angeles back to Southampton – this is about half the cost.

All accommodation on the Viking Sun is Veranda but if you wanted to splash out and go for the Owners Suite, this would set you back £194,390.00pp but before you rush to book these are already sold out!

The cruise will have highlights as it calls into Rio De Janeiro, Hobart in Tasmania and Luxor, with 22 overnight stays in different cities. She will also see some new ports to Viking across Latin America, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Chile – 8 in total.

So who fancies it?
