On our last cruise (May 2011) we hadn't checked the price of internet access prior to booking/boarding and were shocked beyond belief to learn of the charges. As we had promised family to be in touch regularly, we decided to get an email out on the first day to inform them that we would not, in fact, be in contact for the week of our cruise unless we were able to connect via mobile phone internet on shore at some point. Imagine our surprise and disgust to find that a single sentence email took over 4 minutes to send. If not for the fact that our loved ones would have worried if they hadn't heard from us, we wouldn't have bothered. Approximately $5 USD for a single sentence?! Thievery at its best!

As if cruise ships don't make enough money out of us, they insult us by actually charging for what ought to be free wifi. How much does it actually cost the cruise ships to provide the wifi? Not a lot I'll bet! Just more GREED on their part Disgusted

Wi-Fi on cruise ships is an absolute rip off! Wi-Fi on ships, in hotels, coffee shops and all public places should be FREE for they already have the facilities in place and it costs them no more, however many people use it. Don't use it and wait to use Internet cafes on shore if at all possible. Better still, get a 3G iPad!

"Use internet cafes ashore is the best idea by the sound of it". I am planing to take my computer on my upcoming Cost cruise so the info here telling of the high cost and slow connextion for Wi Fi is very useful and a potential big cost saver. Thanks!

I have just been on P/o Ocenna, I have spend a fortune on wi-fi as every time I log in , that I have been told wrong log in detail or password was wrong, i have changed my password 3 times ,(the passwords I have been using the last 20 years. )and It took about 20 mintues just to log on , I know they have told you the ship internet are a lot slower ,but if every time you typed something in , they said yours info was wrong , so you have to redo it again , so you just spend all the time tried to coreccted it , I can't help to think that is the way they can make money out of your package. ?So I would adviced any one NOT to use it unless you have to,
