exploring

If it's your first visit, a good guide is invaluable. Book on a tour and keep your eyes, and camera, free instead of poring over map and guidebook.[This is especially true in the Doge's Palace.] Then you can wander round independently, and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful place.

Murano and Burano Island

Is there a more reasonable price to visit Murano and Burano island than what celeberity cruises are offering

Venice

To get to the Vaporetto stop at Pizzale Roma, there is now a People Mover train. It costs 1 Euro and is just outside the port gates - about a 5 minute walk

Rialto and gondala ride

You must go to the Rialto Market and Rialto Bridge to get the true feeling of Venice. A ride on the Gondola is also highly recommended, expensive but can you come away from Venice without a ride on one of the Canals. While we’ve mentioned a few there are but only thousands more.

Murano Island

The Murano is an island in the Lagoon. Many tours go there and it is another great place to visit in Venice. There is lots to do especially to learn something about the famous Murano glass industry and to buy some glass souvenirs.

St marks Square

The Piazza San Marco is a must see for all visitors to the Venice area. You have to spend time here, either wandering around or drinking coffee at one of the many cafes surrounding this Square (note the square isn’t a square at all but an off center rectangle!) and enjoy this most famous of views of Venice with St Marks dominating one end.

The sights

Everything about Venice was magical, the Frari, Sculo Grande San Rocco, Ca Rezzonico, San Marco, the Doges Palace, San Giorgio Maggiore the list goes on and on. I loved the art, the church's, the little winding street's where we got lost several times, standing on the Accademia bridge with those wonderful views of the grand canal, which brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.We all fell in love with this magical watery world.

St marks square

cannot miss it - fantastic in the evening as live music and entertainment and all lit. Last time we went someone had just got married and beautiful pictures. Just got to be careful what time of year you go as it can smell in the hieght of summer.
