Amsterdam is one of the greatest small cities in the world. From its canals to world-famous museums and historical sights, Amsterdam is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe.
Amsterdam is also a city of tolerance and diversity. It has all the advantages of a big city: culture, nightlife, international restaurants, good transport - but is quiet, and largely thanks to its canals, has a little road traffic. In Amsterdam your destination is never far away, but get a bike for most authentic experience.
Museums are the main tourist attraction in Amsterdam. Everyone knows the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum, but there is much more. Amsterdam has over fifty museums which attract millions of visitors each year.

Concertgebouw
As always, it's a pleasure to attend a performance at the Concertgebouw with its wonderful acoustics and bright sound. We enjoyed the performance by the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest on Friday 27th February 2009, and especially enjoyed what's been done to make it easier for the concert-goer: free public transport for 3 hours before and 4 hours after each concert, simply present your concert ticket on the tram, bus or metro; and a free drink before the performance and another during the interval at the bar, the press release says this is to "avoid long queues and enhance your experience" and it certainly does that - how civilised to pick up a quick coffee, juice, beer or glass of wine without fumbling for the right change in unfamiliar currency and still have enough time to sip it slowly before the bells summon you back inside the Hall.
There are excellent public transport links to the Concertgebouw which is located on Museum Plein near the Rijk's and van Gogh museums, and many restaurants nearby to suit all budgets and tastes. A most pleasant experience indeed.
Vincent Van Gogh Museum
At first i wasn't to keen on visiting Amsterdam as you just think it is cafes and groups of people just going for all that but i have to say i really enjoyed the day i spent there.
First i went on a canal ride which i thought was really nice after that i went to the Vincent Van Gogh museum which was brilliant to see all his painting but also his drawings which they had over 400. I have now got passed my stigma of Amsterdam and would say that it is a great place to visit.
Explore the city's 700 year old streets, cruise down it's bustling canals, and browse it's colourful flower markets. People watch in Dam Square, visit Anne Frank's House and visit the picturesque villages of Volendam and Marken.
