Burgers to the left of me, Burgers to the right….

Well in case the monumental occasion passed you by, Sunday May 28th was indeed Americas ‘National Burger Day’ (surely you’re not surprised), and getting in to the spirit of the occasion were two of Americas largest cruise operators – Carnival Cruise Lines and Holland America Line.

Carnival in true American style went above and beyond, and completely over the top to celebrate with a gigantic Guys Burger on Carnival Liberty and in fact created the worlds ‘largest burger at sea’, some claim to fame I’m sure you’ll agree. Unfortunately I have no photographic evidence of this legendary creation, possibly due to the fact it may well have been polished off in quite literally seconds by the crowds of ravenous passengers who were lucky enough to witness it.

Holland America Line went with 20 unique burger options on board (yes 20), meaning lucky Holland America guests could enjoy almost 3 different burgers per day on a 7 night cruise without repetition – utter bliss, no question.

Surely a particular culinary highlight would have to be The Ultimate Gourmet Burger at Pinnacle Grill. A delicious combination of bacon, jam, garlic chipotle aioli, cheddar cheese, Cabernet red onions and avocado.

We all know what perfect culinary partners jam and bacon make right? – I’m just sorry I missed the whole thing.

Enough said.

Bye for now.
