Celebrity Edge preview cruise cancelled

Celebrity Edge still under construction is the first in a new class of ships for Celebrity in 10 years. Celebrity Edge will feature several industry firsts including a revolutionary new ship design that has allowed for the creation of so-called infinite balconies, in which the balcony can be either an outdoor space or provide extra space indoors with the touch of a button. Another game changer is a movable platform called the “Magic Carpet” located along the outside of the ship, which can double as a tender station, restaurant or bar depending on where it’s located.

Unfortunately, often cruise line are having to change scheduled dates and sometime even itineraries due to unforeseen circumstances. Celebrity Cruises has announced the cancellation of the preview sailing on the 03rd December of its newest ship Celebrity Edge scheduled to debut in mid-November. The other four preview sailings remain unchanged.

The line has yet to announce the ship’s Christening date and we don’t know why exactly the 03rd December has had to be cancelled.  The only information Celebrity gave is the cancellation is a result of unforeseen changes to the Celebrity Edge inaugural schedule as their spokesman says.

Passengers booked on the 03rd December sailing can re book on any of the other Celebrity Edge preview sailings, in like for like accommodations, at the protected lowest available rate. Guests can choose to re book any of three night sailings departing on the 21st and 24th November, or the 1st and 6th December.

Affected passengers can also opt to book on any four-night Bahamas or any five-night Western Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Infinity, excluding holiday cruises.

Anyone who re books another Celebrity cruise in place of the cancelled sailing will receive a $100 onboard credit per stateroom ($200 per suite). Additionally, Celebrity will honour any offer for those who booked their cancelled cruise using a Celebrity Cruises promotion.

Celebrity will also reimburse any airline change fees up to $250 per person for domestic or international flights. A copy of the air change fee receipt must be provided to Celebrity Cruises.

All passengers who choose not to re book on another sailing will receive a full refund for the amount paid.
