British couple shot in Barbados

More bad press hit P&O this week with the shooting of a British couple on board the Adonia World Cruise. Mr & Mrs Prior from Suffolk were injured on Sunday whilst exploring in Bridgetown, Barbados.

It is though the coupled tousled with two attacks that stole Mrs Priors handbag, at the time they did not realise their attackers were armed. Mr Prior was shot in his left side, whilst his wife was shot in her right thigh. Both are now believed to have been discharged from hospital and recovering well.

Fellow tourists and passers by rushed to assist the couple and police have held two suspects in connection with the incident.

It is so sad when these things happen especially to holiday makers enjoying a well deserved break. The Adonia is currently on her three month World cruise and is due back in Southampton on the 3rd April.

Obviously passengers will be feeling anxious on board, and the news could potentially concern future cruisers deciding if taking that first cruise is really for them.

Having worked overseas for many years my advice is to not let incidents such as this put you off.  Obviously this is a very distressing incident which could have happened anywhere. P&O have an excellent support team in place to support all the passengers involved. Unfortunately P&O seem to be in the press for more negatives at the moment than anything else which is such a shame as many Brits will agree they are a great cruise line who do everything they can to look after passengers on board, with their safety being of paramount importance.
