Spanish sun, sand and sangria

What a fantastic week we have just had in Spain!

My husband, 4 year old daughter Ella and I jetted off the Alicante and stayed with some good friends in their villa. The villa is approx. 45 minutes’ drive away from Alicante, 10 minutes from Torrevieja and 30 minutes from Cartagena.

It was Ella’s 1st time abroad which made it extra special for us.

She enjoyed every minute!

We had an early start… 5.55am we flew out with Thomas Cook airlines from Manchester airport arriving just before 10am into Alicante. It was rather hot on arrival!

Their villa had a private pool and we were all straight in there to cool off!

Their villa has a self-contained apartment below the villa where we stayed.

There is a living area with kitchen and small table and chairs.

2 bedrooms

Outside there is a patio to enjoy a BBQ

Balcony with a parasol offering much needed shade

Private pool

Sun terrace

Roof top terrace with panoramic views.

There is plenty to do in and around the resort.

Playa Flamenco is the closest beach and there are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants within 5 minutes’ drive.

We had a Sunday roast in a nearby restaurant – 5 Euros each! What a bargain. You could choose from beef, pork or chicken.

I had chicken and I am sure they gave me ½ of one! followed by Bailies cheese cake!

We visited nearby Villa Martin which is like an apartment complex with facilities on site. Shops, bars, entertainment. Ella enjoyed the trampolines!

Locally it is described as El Dorado… remember the Spanish soap opera? Before my time! J

We had a Chinese meal. Delicious and so cheap! 3 courses for 8 euros with a free glass of wine and a shot of bailies to finish off.

Beer and wine in the supermarket is so cheap! I bought a bottle of prosecco for 2 euros. Wine was even cheaper. 4 bottles of red wine (and it was nice) for 7 euros.

We bought some booze at the airport coming home.

A litre bottle of Tanqueray gin for 12.50 Euros, licor 43 (Spanish Liquor) for 14 euros and Bacardi for 18 euros. Always come in handy!

Coming home we flew with Norwegian air. They were good. No frills but check in was quick.

We will have to travel in school holidays next year!

What have you got planned for the holidays?

Thanks for reading!
