No need to travel to Southampton!

Sailing out of the UK is so popular! Some people cannot fly or just don’t want to!

Do you live in the North of the UK or even Scotland? I live about 10 miles from Manchester and recently took a cruise from Liverpool with Fred Olsen on the Boudicca.

This summer the Boudicca will sail out of Liverpool right through to October! The range of destinations is fantastic!

There is a British Isles cruise, 7 night Norwegian Fjords, a longer cruise over to Canada, you can travel south to France and then finally the Azores later in September.

Travel to Liverpool is very easy. Parking is convenient and close to the port and the train station is a short taxi ride. This is how I travelled. The train took less than an hour from Manchester. The port is within walking distance but I chose a taxi with some others to make it easier especially with the luggage!

The train to Southampton is over 4 hours, although there is a direct service from Manchester making it the best way to travel! My friend recently returned from a cruise and it took her 7 hours to get home in the car! Not the best end to your holiday!

The Fred Olsen Boudicca is only a small ship. 880 Passengers. If you like a more relaxing atmosphere this ship is perfect.

The stand out fact about Fred Olsen is the food! Magnificent! In fact for one evening I ordered a Christmas dinner, Turkey stuffing, and roasties. It was delicious! One of my fellow diner had ordered steak… she was too poorly to eat it, so I had ½ with my friend, it was the best steak I have ever tasted!

If in doubt ask the waiters. I love that fact that you can try something a little different. The waiters will select what the chief recommends for that evening. The must be so proud!

The ship is quite low key, there are plenty of bars and areas outside to sit. It was a little quiet for me but I do like it busy and love the big ships!

If you have already booked for this year don’t panic, the Black Watch will be sailing out of Liverpool from April until November 2018! Brilliant news!
