Jane on the Mekong River

Did you watch the TV show on Channel 5 with Jane McDonald on the Mekong river in Vietnam?

How fantastic did it look?

She started in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh city and enjoyed all the markets and meeting the locals. I think she was glad to board her river cruise ship for a bit of relaxing time!

The ship was the AmaDora part of the AmaWaterway’s fleet of 21 ships based mainly in Europe.

The AmaDora is a 5* luxury river cruise ship where most things are included in the price.

Full board, drinks and snacks throughout the cruise are included. I loved how Jane had a pint of larger for sail-away! Propper Northern lass!

All the trips as per the itinerary are also included.. the choice is good they even have headsets so you can explore in your own time and late riser tours if you want to sleep in!

The ship has a sun deck with a pool, spa, lounge and bar with great views and local entertainment.

Jane’s accommodation was a suite with double balcony.

The views are spectacular! one side of the cabin has an outside balcony and the other with a French balcony if you just want to let some air in the cabin.

I love how the bed enjoyed the view out of the window!

The cruise looked amazing.

The highlights for me were…

Jane had a silk dress made in Tan Chau – she asked for a yellow trouser suite and they made her a white dress! Brilliant! The dress was beautiful!

The cruise crossed the border into Cambodia. Jane visited the old and new markets of Phnom Penh and tasted the local food! She also visited the Royal palace.

Kampong – Tralach is a massive floating village where over a million people live in poverty but they have plenty to eat because of all the fish!

The final stop was an early start – Angkor Wat for an amazing sunrise. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world. The carvings, architecture and temples are sight that takes your breath away!

Have you been on a river cruise to the Mekong?

What were your highlights?
