Even more reasons to try a River cruise…

More brits than ever are taking a river cruise. The popularity of River cruising has increased by 20% this year in the UK.

It’s not difficult to see why when you look into this type of cruising in more detail.

I visited Amsterdam a few weeks ago for a River cruise convention and learnt so much about what is included in a River cruise and why it has become so popular.

The most popular rivers to cruise are the Rhine, the Danube, the Seine and the Mekong.

So what can you expect?

You will always have the best view whether you are in port or sailing. So many of the ships have panoramic views even from the restaurants so you never have to miss a thing.

All the cabins have an ocean view and the top deck consists of sun loungers, games or outdoor dining.

The ships are small, friendly and full of atmosphere! You can enjoy excellent service, delicious food and home comforts while seeing so many wonderful towns and cities. The entertainment is low key, however remember you often stay late in port so venturing out is part of your experience and the ships dock in very central locations so you don’t have to venture too far from your ship.

Every day you will see something new! Most river cruise companies include excursions which is such an advantage on this type of holiday. See as much as you like. The cost of excursions can really add up and you can even request a pack lunch if you are out all day! Feeling a little more adventurous? You can take a bicycle and explore on your own!

Sailing on a river means no motion! Worried about feeling sea sick? Well worry no more. The calm waters mean it is all plain sailing on a river cruise!

There are so many different River cruise line companies now. You can choose which company to use depending on what you want included and the standard of ship/ accommodation.

The real luxury cruise lines include drinks, free WIFI and tips. Others include drinks during you meal times only whilst some you have to pay for. For me, all-inclusive luxury is the way forward. You literally have no worries about bar bills and the standard of accommodation is amazing!

Would all this tempt you into trying a river cruise?

Share your river cruise stories.

I would love to hear from you.
