Cunard welcome a new ship and P&O say farewell to the Adonia

During the same week Cunard celebrate the 50th anniversary of the QE2 they also announce a 4th ship addition to the fleet! The last new ship is nearly 10 years ago when they introduced the Queen Elizabeth to the fleet.

The new ship (yet to be named) will join the Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and the Queen Elizabeth in 2022.

what would you name the 4th ship?

I have cruised on both Queen Mary 2 and the Queen Victoria. Both ships offer an elegance and I am sure the new ship will be welcomed by regular Cunard customers.

The line offer cruises all year round from Southampton, Transatlantic cruises to New York and beyond and Mediterranean cruises during the summer and Caribbean in the winter months.

All ships complete world cruises during January.

The new ship will also be the largest of the 4 ships. The Queen Elizabeth and Victoria are both just over 2000 guests. The Queen Mary 2 is just over 2600 guest and the new ship will carry 3000 passengers.

I wonder if this new ship will bring something a little different to the fleet? I would like to see some longer cruises from Southampton or even some sectors which takes in more ports in the Med. Where would you like to see on the agenda?

Other news this week is that P&O are also saying goodbye to the P&O Adonia. They have finalised a sale to Azamara.

Azamara already have 2 identical ships to Adonia, so the addition is fantastic for the company and for the guest who enjoy the 5* ships.

What a shame for all those P&O guests who have booked for next year. Back to the drawing board for most. I hope P&O have a good plan with options to switch to and extra benefits – I am sure they will!

What do you think about the news from Cunard?

Are you booked on the Adonia and need help with another cruise?

Let me know if you need any help
