Movies featuring Cruise Ships

I thought I would list some films featuring cruise ships.

Titanic (1997)

The sub-plot may be a little predictable, and you already know the ending, but the special effects make you feel like you are really on the ship. A great cruise movie. You will be humming Celine Deion’s song for days after watching this one.

Triangle (2009)

Feelings of déjà vu, suspicion, and dread punctuate this psychological thriller from SEVERANCE director Christopher Smith. 30 DAYS OF NIGHT’s Melissa George stars as Jess, a woman on a yacht with a group of friends. When a storm comes up, they are forced to leave the yacht and move to a cruise ship, but there appears to be no one on board. Soon enough, Jess’s worry is revealed to be founded when someone begins killing her friends.

Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)

Spry “Speed” survivor Annie Porter (Bullock) can’t seem to escape maniacal terrorists, as she discovers soon after boarding a posh luxury liner with her engagement-minded boyfriend, Alex. The bad news is that the disgruntled–and recently fired–mastermind behind the ship’s electronic control systems wants revenge against the ship’s management, so he sets the ship on a collision course with such deadly targets as an offshore oil tanker. The good news is that Alex has been training on the sly with an elite LAPD SWAT team, so the plucky pair resolves to save their fellow passengers.

The Poseidon Adventure (1972)

It’s New Year’s Eve and the luxury ocean liner Poseidon is on a magnificent voyage from New York to Athens. Unfortunately, disaster befalls passengers and crew when the cruise ship is capsized by a huge tidal wave brought on by a submarine-induced earthquake. Though the casualties are many, 10 passengers survive to make a harrowing journey up to the overturned ship’s bottom where they try and escape to safety.

Boat Trip (2003)

Hoping to get his mind off his ex-girlfriend Felicia, heart-broken Jerry decides to join his best friend Nick on a tropical singles cruise for a week of sun and possible romance. But when Jerry and Nick realize they’ve been accidentally booked on a gay cruise, all they can think of is jumping ship – that is, until Jerry falls head-over -heels for Gabriella, a gorgeous dance instructor who, after a string of bad boyfriends, has given up on love. Hoping to get past Gabriella’s stalwart defenses, Jerry pretends to be gay- but matters get complicated when both Jerry and Gabriella start to feel the heat of mutual attraction. And when Felicia unexpectedly appears on board hoping to win her ex-boyfriend back, Jerry is suddenly faced with the decision of a lifetime…
