Celebrity move the Equinox from Med to Caribbean for 2017

The Celebrity Equinox had itineraries in place for the summer of 2017 sailing around the Mediterranean but it seems that Celebrity Cruises have had a change of heart. They have now cancelled all of these sailings and have announced that the Equinox will instead be sailing round the Caribbean all-year round basing her sailings out of Miami.

This move came as quite as a surprise to me as I booked a good client of mine on an Equinox sailing for 2017 the night before Celebrity made this change. The news came the next day that this had all changed.

I do feel bad for all of the people that had already made bookings and plans for the Equinox in 2017 to sail around the Med, it is a shame that this decision wasn’t made by Celebrity with more advance notice. I do think otherwise this isn’t a bad idea at all though as Celebrity already have other ships sailing around the Med and summer Med sailings are quite a saturated market. At least now this will give guests who enjoy Celebrity Cruises (myself included) the chance to sail to the Caribbean any time of the year if I so wished.

The newly announced sailings include seven-night itineraries between June and August, and 10 and 11 night itineraries throughout the rest of the year.
