Azamara Pursuit refit the largest project of it’s kind for a UK shipyard for many years

Most people who follow cruising will have heard that P&O cruises sold their smallest adult only ship the Adonia to Azamara Club Cruises not so long ago. Azamara Club Cruises are a 5* Deluxe more-inclusive brand owned by the Royal Caribbean group.  The time has now come for the massive work required before the new Azamara Pursuit can join the Journey and Quest.

Fortunately this is a great thing for the UK industry as the refit will be taking place in Belfast and will last for several months with the bulk of the work taking place across a 30 day period in June and July and will involve 800 workers.  This should bring a good boost to the local economy. Also if this goes well it may bring in similar future contracts.

The Pursuit will be sailing to Southampton at the end of July to prepare for her maiden voyage to Norway on the 1st August. Exact costs haven’t been disclosed of the refurbishment but it is estimated to be costing in the region of £50m.

More good news for the UK cruise industry is that the christening of the Pursuit will be taking place in Southampton.

Pursuit sailings have been on sale for a while now and I have clients already booked, I hope they enjoy the Pursuit as much as the Journey and Quest, which I always get positive feedback from my returning clients.
