Too Short Or Just Right?…

I have just spent a lovely three nights in the New Forest with friends. Granted, we had fantastic weather which always helps, but I feel that we packed a lot into our trip and it definitely felt like a holiday.

This was my third short break this year having previously been to Scotland for two nights and Spain for three nights. Each time, I have set off early on the first day and come home late on the final day so have maximised my time away. Not everyone can take leave for longer durations and personally, I would rather have a few days away than none.

Many cruise lines offer mini cruises for two to five nights. These shorter itineraries offer an ideal way to try a different ship or brand without committing to a full week or more.  The shortest of these really just give a glimpse of life on board and are often now used as party cruises and are popular with stag and hen parties. To get a true feel for the ship and less of a party atmosphere , you really need three or more nights. They sell out quite quickly especially if you want school holidays, family cabins and especially those over New Year. They are fabulous holidays for big family groups of all ages, particularly if covering a special occasion, and are very reasonable compared to alternative ways to get a lot of people together to celebrate as all food, entertainment and sometimes even drinks are included.

Royal Caribbean, for example, have a five night trip on Navigator of the Seas on 22nd October to Spain and France for just under £1500 for 2 adults and 2 children which is half term for many schools. Amazing value for all that’s included.

Or how about a two night jaunt to Belgium’s Christmas markets for just £159pp?
