This Time Next Week…..

This time next week I will be on board Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas.

Having just undergone a multi-million pound refit, it will be interesting to see what has been done to make this popular ship more amazing. This will be my third sailing on her and my husband’s first so it will be interesting to get both views of the most popular ship based in Southampton.

I am looking forward to the entertainment in the Royal Promenade which has a real street party atmosphere amongst the bars and shops. I am also looking forward to the delicious food which has never disappointed.

The new features include the Sky Pad with a bungee trampoline experience (I might just watch rather than participate) and an Escape Room which i believe is like the panic rooms popping up all over the UK. There is also two water slides and a water park called Splashaway Bay and Playmakers which is a new Sports Bar and Arcade.

As if there is not enough to increase the waistline already, they have added two new dining experiences at Fish and Ships (no, not a spelling mistake) and Izumi, a Japanese restaurant and the Sugar Beach Candy and Ice Cream Store.

Of course there is already a rock climbing wall, an ice rink and a Flow Rider surfing experience to keep you busy as well as incredible shows in the theatre.

The downside of my little jaunt next week is that it is only for two nights so I will be running around trying to do and see everything as well as eating enough food to last the rest of the month, sampling the amazing wines and cocktails and enjoying some quiet time on my private balcony.

I’ll let you know how it all goes next time.
