2018 Summer Season now underway !

With most of the major cruise lines ships now safe and sound back into home ports to start the 2018 Season I thought I would summarize what we can expect from the old faithful port of Southampton.

We have many lines departing from all three terminals some more often than others. Regent, Saga, Oceania, Norwegian and Holland America make the occasional appearance but mainly P & O, Cunard, Princess, MSC, Royal, Celebrity and Fred Olsen are all departing on daily basis.

So how do we decide which line or which destination is for us.

P & O are the quintessential British Cruise line catering for the British Market. Starting back in 1837 and were belived to be the first line to transport our much loved cuppa carrying tea leaves from China. P & O have a proven track record with guests returning year after year and in some cases cruise after cruise. P & O offer anything from a weekend break to a world cruise offering over 80 countries to visit. They cater for the family market and an adult only market too, so very much have something for all.

7 ships in the fleet Aurora and Oriana being their smallest carrying just 1870 and 1880 passengers to their largest Britannia with a massive 3647,( well I say massive but compared to some it is not ) They now have 3 adult only as the demand is ever increasing for this type of cruise.

Princess Cruise lines are bringing us The Royal Princess as featured on the current TV show she is the largest their fleet with 3600 passengers and a glass sky walk to test your love of heights. I will experiencing her in May so will tell you more about the ship then. She will do doing a lovely around Britain cruise. Sapphire Princess will be on our shores for the first time since her refit with 2600 passengers doing a mix 7 night Fjords and Northern Europe with 14 night Mediterranean. An American line so all in dollars but again very family friendly and amazing beds in your staterooms.

Royal Caribbean has one of the UK markets old favorite Independence again a ship that has recently been refitted but this time with mind blowing technology and state of the art features throughout the ship she will carry 4370 guests to Fjords and Mediterranean destinations along with her slightly smaller companion Navigator of the Seas with 3276 guests. These two being a fun loving family option American line.
From flow riders to ice rinks and everything in between you will not be bored.

We also welcome MSC Magnifica this year taking 2550 passengers to Fjords, around the British isles and Northern Spain and Portugal. I have chosen her for a 10 night Fjords for my own personal family holiday this time as my husband prefers smaller ships so with the glitz of this ship we are both happy.

These are just a few to think about. Fred and Cunard next time.
