Marella Cruises Finally Return To The UK

Marella cruises have just announced that they will return to the UK.

In 2017, the Marella Celebration will start sailing from Newcastle throughout the summer for a series of cruises.

The 1,254 passenger Celebration will be sailing on itineraries of between four and fourteen nights to destinations such as the Baltics, Copenhagen, Stockholm, St Petersburg, Iceland and the Norwegian Fjords.

Marella have not based one of their ships in the UK since 2014 and the news was met by excitement from British cruisers. The news has also been well received in the north of the UK as the line have chosen not to sail from Southampton.

The Managing Director of Marella Cruises (Helen Caron) said: “I’m excited to reveal the re-introduction of ex-UK cruising to our programme in 2017. This will open up even more destinations for our customers, giving them the opportunity to create truly memorable experiences.”

The Marella Celebration has both adult pools and kids pools, kids clubs, a casino, several restaurants, and a variety of bars, entertainment options and places to relax. You can read what fellow cruisers thought of the Thomson Celebration here.

In other news, Marella’s newest ship (the Marella Discovery) has announced details about its new facilities including entertainment from the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and food from the former executive chef of Harrods.

The ship will have four breakfast venues, seven lunch venues and seven dinner venues. As well as this, the ship will have a climbing wall, dedicated kids and teen areas and an exclusive adult only sunbathing area. The vessel will launch on June 9th 2016 and be based in Palma, Majorca.

Will you be sailing with Marella when the Celebration cruises from Newcastle? Are you excited by the news? Are there any other cruise lines you would rather see sailing from the UK?
