The Battle On-Board Ovation - Who Wins? You Decide!

April 14, 2016

As you’ve probably heard, the team were on-board one of the largest ships in the world this week when we took a look around Ovation of the Seas.

One of the many things that we noticed whilst we were walking around the ship was that it was full of contrasts. For every busy, wacky corner there were places to relax and unwind. For every kids pool there was an adult only paradise. For every bizarre piece of artwork there was an optical illusion waiting to surprise you.

Read on to find out the weird, the wonderful and the wacky that we found on-board Ovation of the Seas!

Kids Pool VS Solarium

We were wowed by the kid’s pool with all of its interactive features, water sports and areas for kids to get up to mischief. But we also loved the adult only Solarium at the back of the ship where you could kick back and relax with a cocktail… no kids in sight!

Izumi VS Silk

If you’re a fan of Asian cuisine you’re in luck! Whether you want to have a bite of sushi in the speciality restaurant Izumi or have a Pan-Asian fusion dish at Silk… Which would you rather?

Adventure Ocean Vs The Spa

The kids on-board will definitely feel like they’re catered for with the wealth of activities provided for them at Adventure Ocean whilst their parents feel on top of the world as they have a pamper in the spa!

Our specialist cruise consultant David has children of his own and told us what he thought about the children’s club…

David-broad “I have children of different ages and I would be happy to send them to Adventure Ocean! The club is split into different age ranges so everyone is looked after and they can play with kids of their own age.” You can find out more about David here!

Have A Coffee VS Have A Cocktail

If you’re the type of guest that wants to have a coffee and read a book on a sea day – you can, whilst the revellers amongst you can head straight to one of the many bars for a cocktail. Make ours a Mai Tai!

Ask A Robot VS Ask Your Genie

Why make a bartender make your drink when a robot could do it for you? The Bionic Bar always dazzles its guests with its robots’ cocktail skills whilst those of you who prefer a more personal touch can employ a Royal Genie to cater to your every need… (Whilst we love the Bionic Bar, we’d personally prefer a Genie!)

Our specialist cruise consultant Phillipa was on-board Ovation of the Seas and got to try out the Bionic Bar…

“I loved the technology on-board, it really added a wow factor! It was amazing to be able to ask a robot to make your cocktail!

Cute Panda VS Elevator Art

The artwork on a Royal Caribbean ship is always crazy. Whether you prefer the Mama and Baby panda towering over top deck or prefer the funky lift art, you’ll always have something to peer at!

Rock Climbing VS Watching The World Pass By

The thrill seekers (and big kids) can head straight for the 34ft rock climbing wall whilst those who are scared of heights can head for a nearby lounge to watch the world pass by…

Bumper Cars VS Private Jacuzzi

Not many ships at sea can boast bumper cars! If you don’t want to ride around the track with fellow guests, why not head for a private Jacuzzi bath in a Royal Loft suite? Sounds like bliss to us…

The team couldn’t help but try out the Jacuzzi… our cruise consultant Barbara told us what she thought:

barbara-hopleyThe Royal Loft Suite was completely out of this world – I just couldn’t believe how big it was! You have your own lounge, several balconies, bath, cinema room and so much more. I could get used to my own jacuzzi on my balcony…” You can find out more about Barbara here!

Men In The Walls Vs Pretty Flowers

As ever on a Royal Ship, the restaurants, corridors and lifts were full of quirky pieces of art. We particularly noticed this man trying to literally walk through walls! Which kind of art do you prefer?

Wonderland VS Jamie’s Italian

The battle of the speciality restaurants commences between Wonderland and Jamie’s Italian. Which offers the best food and service? You decide!

The team were split between the two restaurants for dinner. One group enjoyed a huge board of bread, meats and Italian treats at Jamie’s whilst the others ate food that was literally out of this world at Wonderland. It was a close call to say who wins….

The Dream VS The North Star

And finally, for that last minute late night entertainment, which would you rather? A show of “The Dream” in the Royal Theatre or a ride on the North Star at night?

Our specialist cruise consultant Diane told us what she thought about the North star…

diane-cockburn“My highlight was the North star trip. I am not bothered about heights but do try and stay away from bridges and piers but I overcame my fear and so glad I took the amazing opportunity to try this” You can find out more about Diane here!

So there you have it! Which of these activities would you prefer? Do you like the look of Ovation of the Seas? Would you like to sail on her?
