A new luxurious cruise ship has been announced by Seabourn, which will set sail in 2018.
The vessel currently does not have a name and will house 604 passengers in all-suite, veranda accommodations.
Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A is going to be constructing the liner and hospitality design icon Adam D Tihany is going to mastermind the interiors.
There will be many dining venues, a spa, showrooms, lounges, a casino, outdoor deck areas and the Seabourn Square – the social hub of the ship that will have a club-like atmosphere.
It is expected that the 40,350-tonne ship will be based on the Seabourn Odyssey liners, with one extra deck and bigger public spaces on board.
This is in addition to the other new ship that Seabourn – whose parent company is Carnival Corporation – is planning, which will come into circulation in 2016.
Seabourn president Richard Meadows said: “There has been an incredible amount of excitement and interest since we announced the order for the first ship, and we’re very pleased that the demand for our brand has allowed us to add a second new ultra-luxury ship to our expanding fleet.
He added that the two new vessels will offer “the understated elegance” that Seabourn is known for, as well as innovative design features.
Fincantieri’s chief executive officer Giuseppe Bono said his team was delighted to be working alongside Seabourn again and stressed how seriously everyone was taking the job.
“We are very glad that Seabourn decided to ‘double’ its trust in us, especially considering that our partnership is very young and getting stronger quickly,” he commented.
He added how this investment showed how Fincantieri is a world leader in the cutting-edge cruise line sector, especially in the ultra-luxury segment.
Both the new ships will continue the modernisation drive that started in 2009 when Seabourn Odyssey launched. Seabourn boasts five vessels that have just 104 or 229 suites and visit unique places that larger ships tend not to be able to travel to.
