Rule, Britannia! P&O’s Patriotic Vessel Arrives in the UK

P&O Cruises’ newest ship Britannia has arrived in the UK at its homeport in Southampton.

For the past few months, the 3,647-passenger vessel was being constructed at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. On February 27th 2015, it finally set sail from the Italian port, making its way down the coast of Italy and across the Mediterranean, via Gibraltar, before heading to Southampton.

Britannia’s arrival at its homeport was marked by a fleet of ships that were shooting water cannons and parachutists in the sky, creating a breathtaking show for the residents and onlookers who lined the quayside and Mayflower Park.

The vessel will embark on its two-week maiden voyage across the Mediterranean on Saturday March 14th, but before doing so will see a number of inaugural celebrations, including ship tours and fireworks.

It has also been announced that Her Majesty the Queen will name the ship tomorrow (March 10th).

Boasting a number of luxury balcony and boutique cabins, Britannia provides passengers with a cruising experience like no other.

Onboard entertainment includes a multi-purpose studio showcasing everything from films to cookery demonstrations; a theatre; dance performances on the decks; numerous clubs and restaurants, and much more.

Will you be cruising to exotic destinations onboard Britannia?
