Royal Let The Public Choose Inspirational Godmother For Newest Ship

It has just been announced that Royal Caribbean are putting the deciding vote for the Godmother of Harmony of the Seas, their newest vessel and world’s largest cruise ship, to the people of South Florida.

The ship will make her debut in the US in November after arriving in Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and after a collaboration with South Florida ABC affiliate Local 10 the line are on the search to find a woman who is an inspiration to the next generation to dream big and think differently.

The residents of South Florida are being encouraged by Royal to visit a website to nominate a mentor, educator or teacher whose passion for education and a better tomorrow inspires students to make a positive impact on the world.

The winner will be awarded as Godmother to Harmony of the Seas during its official naming ceremony on November 10th later this year, plus a $25,000 grant will also be donated to her school or non-profit organization with the intention to fund education initiatives that will further her mission to inspire the youth of South Florida.

Not only this but the chosen Godmother will also have the opportunity to host a field trip to Harmony’s naming ceremony for those whose lives she has influenced. The ship will then set sail later that evening with three guests on a 2 night pre-inaugural cruise. The nominated figure will also receive a seven night cruise for two on-board.

President and SEO of RCI, Michael Bayley, stated: “Royal Caribbean’s legacy is built on a dream that began in a small trailer on Biscayne Boulevard. That’s why when we thought about the Godmother for Harmony, a ship that is not just the world’s largest, but the ultimate expression of our history and future, we knew that we wanted to pay tribute to our roots and community with this designation. Who better to welcome Harmony home than an outstanding woman who is inspiring the dreamers and innovators of South Florida’s next generation”.

As part of a maritime tradition and honour historically reserved for heads of state, politicians and celebrities, Godmothers break a bottle to christen the ship and act as a guiding spirit to its guests and crew members. Royal Caribbean openly look to capture the essence of the role by choosing women whose life lessons and achievements illustrate the type of courage, destination and determination that are an inspiration to everyone.
