MSC Reveal Exclusive News At Coin Ceremony For 4th Ship Under Construction

MSC Cruises and Fincantieri have just marked a key milestone in the construction of MSC Seaview at its official coin ceremony.

CEO of Fincantieri, Giuseppe Bono, stated: ‘We always celebrate every stage of progress of this project with satisfaction. The MSC Seaview order, as the one for its sister ship MSC Seaside, which was floated out in November 2016, is one of those which has allowed the crucial relaunch of the cruise market.’

The ship is planned to homeport in Miaimi and is the fourth ship currently under construction for the cruise line. MSC Seaview will come into service in June 2018 and sail the Western Mediterranean in her inaugural summer season, then continuing her deployment in Brazil.

Gianni Onorato, MSC Cruises Chief Executive Officer added: “MSC Seaview will bring guests and the sea closer to each other, with a pioneering beach condo concept and other unique design and product elements that allow to make the most of the warmer weather.

‘With one of the highest ratios of outdoor spaces at sea, guests will also enjoy an increased number of balcony cabins, sea views and outdoor public areas, with every element carefully planned to allow to make the most of the sea and the sunshine.”

Seaview has been named as ‘yet another game-changing prototype’ for the Seaside-generation of cruise ships by the brand’s executive chairman, Pierfrancesco Vago.

Vago furthered with another announcement at the coin ceremony on Febrary 2nd that that not only will the MSC Seaside be joining the MSC Divina this year for sailing from the U.S. but so will the line’s other new ship for 2017, MSC Meraviglia, come 2019 too.

The announcement reinforces MSC’s dedication to the North American market with a trio of ships, each one from a unique class of vessels. The MSC Divina is part of the Fantasia-class, the line’s latest series whilst MSC Seaside will be the first of the Seaside-class as a series for following the sun; MSC Meraviglia will be the first of the Meraviglia-class.

MSC Cruises’ future in the US looks promising, and further expansion is anticipated. As an all-weather ship, the MSC Meraviglia could easily be deployed beyond the Caribbean to Canada and New England or even Alaska.

Beyond 2017, the MSC Seaview is set to launch in 2018, and there’s an option for a third Seaside-class ship for 2021. Another Meraviglia-class ship, the MSC Bellissima will also join in 2019, and two larger Meraviglia Plus-class ships are set to follow in 2020 and 2022.

Plus, up to four new World-class vessels are planned with two solidly on order for 2022 and 2024 and another two options penciled in for 2025 and 2026. Altogether, MSC Cruises plans to invest 9 billion Euros through 2026.

So, what are your thoughts on the news of MSC’s ever-expanding status? Do you plan to sail with Seaside, Seaview Meraviglia or any of the other new vessels in the fleet? Tell us why you’re an MSC fan…
