Gratuities Rise On Celebrity Cruises

May 24, 2016

It has just been announced that Celebrity Cruises are raising their gratuity rates, taking effect on the 14th of June for all sailings departing on or after the 1st of July 2016.

The new recommended gratuities guideline for the cruise lune is $13.50 per day per guest in standard staterooms, $14.00 per day per guest in Concierge Class and AquaClass staterooms and $17.00 per day per guest in Suite Class.

Guests on-board a Celebrity ship are still free to change the amount at their discretion at the Guest Relations office and, for the guests’ convenience, Celebrity automatically registers the daily gratuities in guests folios.

Passengers booked with a Celebrity cruise still have the option to pre-pay their gratuities prior to the effective date and can still do this on the current guidelines of $12.95 per day per guest for standard staterooms, $13.45 per day per guest in Concierge Class and AquaClass staterooms and $16.45 per day per guest in Suite Class. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the current rates by pre-paying their gratuities now prior to the 14th of June.

Celebrity Cruises have stated that the adjustment in rates is to help recognize the exceptional work that their staff and crew on-board do to deliver unforgettable holidays to the guests everyday.

Some key points for passengers sailing with Celebrity to keep in mind are that, for their convenience, the cruise line automatically add daily gratuities for restaurant and stateroom services to every guests SeaPass account, but this can be adjusted at their discretion. The gratuities are shared by guests Dining & Culinary Services staff, Stateroom attendants, other Housekeeping Services Personnel and other staff from different departments that work behind the scenes to further enhance the passengers’ cruise experience. Also, an 18% gratuity will automatically be added to all beverages, mini bar purchases, spa and salon services.
