Celebrity Solstice, Australia’s best rated cruise ship, has officially arrived at its new homeport in Sydney following its multimillion-dollar renovation.
The ship was awarded the Best Cruise Ship- Domestic by Australian travel agents in 2015 and after its $11 million revitalization, the 317 metre ship looks to be on the right path to maintain its high rating.
Solstice’s new updates elevate a fun, luxe holiday vibe and Celebrity Cruises’ Australia managing director, Adam Armstrong, says the ship’s new contemporary designs are focused on creating that ‘luxurious, modern travel’ look and feel.
Armstrong has said that one of the things that distinguishes the ship from other cruise offerings in the market is the new outdoor lawn area that houses the new club cabanas with the Opera House in the background.
The cruise line have added a new outdoor movie and foodie experience too with its ‘A Taste of Film’ offering which pairs big-screen movies about culture, cooking or destinations with cuisine. Celebrity have combined the gastronomic and cinematic experience so that guests can watch a film and the food that is prepared or talked about in the screening is then served to them by a butler afterwards. Screening at the moment is The 100 Foot Journey, starring Helen Mirren, which will be followed by Chef, starring Dustin Hoffman.
The fun for food lovers continues as passengers can also enjoy a new speciality dining option, Sushi on Five, by sushi chef, Yoshikazu ‘Yoshi’ Okada with a menu that includes hand-rolled sushi and Asian-inspired cocktails, Japanese beers and premium sakes.
For the shoppers, the ship features the cruise line’s first Tiffany & Co. store which will offer exclusive designs to passengers at tax-free and duty-free prices. The addition of this popular boutique perfectly compliments the ship’s existing highlights: The Persian Garden in the Canyon Ranch Spa Club, which features a solarium pool surrounded by a green wall and waterfalls, two larger outdoor pools and four whirlpools, with stunning views from the Sky Observation Lounge that turns into a club at nighttime.
Celebrity Solstice is home-ported in Sydney until April 2017 and boasts a Miami Beach, luxe-hip vibe, from its bars to the restaurants and updated decor.
