Pedal Power on a Cruise Ship

Carnival Cruise Line has announced details of its newest ‘fun ship’, Carnival Vista, which is set to feature an IMAX theatre, aerial cycling ride and it’s own on-board brewery!

The 3,954-passenger vessel is due to launch on May 1st 2016 from the Mediterranean seaport of Trieste and will boast an extensive range of space for on-board entertainment.

Skyride

If you’re a lover of fairground rides then you’re bound to enjoy the line’s first pedal-powered, open-air aerial ride, named SkyRide. Hop onto a bike and “cycle” your way around the track that’s elevated at 800 ft.

The two tracks mean that you can even challenge your family and friends to a race and if that doesn’t sound exciting enough, the SkyCourse ropes circuit may just tickle your fancy.

Other action-packed features include mini bowling, ping pong, sports video gaming and arcade basketball – to name a few.

For more outdoor fun, Carnival’s largest WaterWorks waterpark can be found onboard Carnival Vista. Passengers can make a splash on the enclosed water tube Kaleid-O-Slide, which involves 455 ft of twists and turns on one or two-person rafts.

The visual kaleidoscopic effects that adorn the walls of the slide make for an even crazier experience.

Moving indoors, Carnival is delivering an exciting cinematic experience with the Carnival Multiplex – comprising a Thrill Theatre and an IMAX theatre. Sit back and relax while you watch the latest Hollywood films and IMAX documentaries on the three-deck high screen.

Imax

The Thrill Theatre provides a 3D special-effects experience where seats move in line with the action on the screen.

And when you begin to feel peckish, Carnival’s got that covered too. Seafood Shack is located on the top deck and comprises a menu of lobster rolls, steamed lobster, fried shrimp, crab cakes, fried clams and other seafood treats.

Or you may prefer Carnival Vista’s speciality restaurants with outdoor seating options, such as the American steakhouse Fahrenheit 555, the Japanese-inspired Bonsai Sushi, and dessert parlour Cherry on Top.

If you want to wind down with a drink, visit the RedFrog pub, where fresh beer is brewed in two giant copper-topped glass kettles. Choose from a selection of ales and lagers and pour your own beer through the specialised tabletop taps.

And if you’re not a beer lover, don’t worry because the bar also serves a collection of Caribbean-inspired cocktails and rums.

Family-friendly activities will also be onboard, including a Dr Seuss Cat in the Hat character breakfast – perfect for youngsters.

The aft of the ship will feature it’s own tropical cabana area…

Speaking at a launch announcement at Lincoln Center’s JAZZ performance space in New York, Mark Tamis – senior vice president of guest operations – said: “Our goal was to make this our most innovative ship to date.

“Carnival Vista is so high energy, so much fun; the most amazing stage for our members to bring to life that fun vacation Carnival is famous for.”

On October 21st 2016, Carnival Vista will embark on a 13-night transatlantic sailing to New York, with new destinations including Crete, Sardinia and Valletta.
