Carnival Adds Charges To Room Service

Carnival Cruise Line have introduced a new room service menu which will now have a charge.

The previously free menu has been changed to include sushi, quesadillas and personal pizzas and will cost between $4 – $7.

However, Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen has explained that there will still be free options on the room service menu including sandwiches, salads, desserts or breakfast options.

As well as this, P&O cruises have put up the price of their gratuities, whilst Norwegian Cruise Line have increased the price of their room service charge.

A small pastry on board a Norwegian Cruise Line ship could now cost you $7.95 as NCL trial their new “convenience charge” whilst the line enhances its room service menu.

The charge is $7.95 per order on the Norwegian Breakaway and $4.95 on the Norwegian Getaway. Depending on reaction to the new scheme, NCL may roll out this charge fleet wide. They previously only charged $3.95 per delivery for orders made between midnight and 5am and there was no charge during the day.

P&O have increased their discretionary service charge to £5 per person per day after previously charging £3.95 per person per day to those aged 12 and over. Compared to other cruise lines, P&O do still remain as one of the lines with the cheapest gratuities, and passengers will still have the option to remove the fee if they are not willing to pay it.

The changes are being brought in between the 1st and 16th of May, and will be enforced throughout their fleet of eight boats.

What do you think about the new or increased charges? Do you think they are reasonable or will it put you off these cruise lines in the future? Let us know in the comments below!
