Britannia’s Great British Gin Menu

Britannia, the biggest superliner ever built for the British market will bring its passengers the Great British Gin Menu upon its official launch next month.

P&O Cruises has selected the Ely Gin Company, founded by James Clark, to front its bespoke menu. Ely gin is said to be one of the finest artisan gins in the country.

Founded in 2012, the Ely Gin Company began trading at the Saturday market in Ely – hence its name. Since then, the business has seen rapid growth and now trades nationwide. It is hoped that trading will soon expand to overseas.

Ely Dark Chocolate Gin is P&O’s beverage of choice, with the unique spirit set to appear on Britannia’s Great British Gin Menu.

The chocolate gin is one of 20 types of gin on offer and will be used as the key ingredient in signature cocktails, during tasting sessions or simply to be enjoyed with ice and tonic onboard the vessel.

Britannia will specialise in high-quality food and drink experiences and Ely Gin will be available to passengers inside the Crows Nest.

Speaking on the announcement Christopher Edgington – marketing director for P&O Cruises – said: “The recent surge in the popularity of gin has seen a huge rise in the number of craft gin makers setting up business.

“The Great British Gin Menu on board Britannia reflects the increasing popularity of this quintessentially British drink and celebrates the success of these artisan distillers.”

Launching in March 2015, Britannia will provide guests with a luxurious cruising experience, with an array of health, beauty, shopping and entertainment amenities, and a huge dining focus.
