An Introduction To: Regent Seven Seas Cruises

An Introduction To: Regent Seven Seas Cruises

The crème de la crème of the luxury cruise market, Regent Cruises have long had an excellent reputation. Since 1994 they’ve focused their attention on giving guest’s space and luxury, priding themselves on their elegance and including far more than other cruise lines do in the upfront price of their cruise fares.

Is There A “Typical” Regent Cruiser?

The line is popular with honeymooners, those celebrating an anniversary and those after a high quality holiday. Whilst children are welcome, they aren’t often seen on-board.

Guests used to staying in suites on five star brands and those who value extra space on-board will always feel at home here.

It’s an ideal cruise for those who love country club life, as Regent aren’t overly pretentious with strict formal dress codes. Instead, you’ll find casual elegance and like-minded travellers who want to travel in comfort to far flung, exotic destinations.regent

On-Board Experience and Entertainment

As Regent ships have a larger passenger capacity than they have actual passengers there’s room for more entertainment activities than you would typically find on ships with passenger numbers this small.

As you’d expect, there are heated pools and Jacuzzis on board, as well as a Canyon Ranch Spa Club. There’s a beauty salon, fitness centre, jogging track, croquet pitch and regular exercise classes. It’s everything you need for a refresh and rejuvenation!

Shows and theatre performances take place in the Constellation Theatre and the musical performances, cabaret shows and nine piece orchestra have won awards in the past. There are also screenings of recently released films.

Dancing is typically hosted in Galileo’s lounge but there’s also a casino with slots, blackjack and roulette along with boutiques to go shopping.

There are a variety of other lounges to mingle in and plenty of opportunities to meet people and make friends, for example over a game of cards in the library or over a drink in one of the lounges.

Did you know? The library on-board is open 24 hours – should you ever want to do a spot of light reading at 4am!

If you want to learn something new you can head to one of the complementary series of lectures. Learn about the history, food, wine, archaeology, jewellery, literature or alternatively try your hand at cooking lessons in the cooking school onboard!

Did you know? Regent are the only cruise line to still hold block parties on your first night on-board, and it allows you to get to know your neighbours. There will also be senior members of staff mingling around and you’ll have plenty of time to make new friends.

Dining Experience

Each ship has at least five restaurants, as well as speciality dining. The best thing about speciality dining is the fact that it’s free! You can enjoy the delights of Prime 7, the premium steak house…

And Signatures, which is a French haute cuisine restaurant…

As well as this, there’s are also the normal restaurants on-board, which include the flagship restaurant Compass Rose serving three meals a day at a very high standard and La Veranda, which serves buffet-style food. In the evening, La Veranda will transform into Sette Mari At La Veranda, and offers an intimate dining experience serving authentic antipasti and Italian dishes. There’s also the option to eat at the pool grill or to order room service.

No matter what the restaurant it will have an open seating policy and you can reserve your places for speciality dining both pre-cruise and whilst on-board.

You’ll also be happy to know that all drinks are included, (even the good stuff such as fine wines and premium spirits!) so you won’t have to fork out to pay for a drinks package. Regent will even restock your mini bar with whatever you want for free!

Suite Life

Every cabin is classed as a suite or above, meaning that you have a great amount of space. You can expect marble bathrooms, walk in closets instead of compact wardrobes, the luxury of a bath and a custom designed slumber bed.

We really weren’t joking about how much space you have on-board Regent. Entry-level suites are larger than many top tier suites on five star lines! Room sizes range between 300 and 3,875 square feet!

The new Seven Seas Splendor has even been dubbed “the most luxurious ship ever built” and will be all suite, all balcony.

Amenities

In your rooms, you will find a flat-screen TV that is interactive with over two hundred complimentary movies on demand. You’ll also have a bathrobe, slippers, a hair dryer and a private safe.

Upon arrival you’ll be greeted by a welcome bottle of Jacquard champagne and newspapers are available in several languages. There are self-service laundry facilities and higher tier suites have Hermes toiletries and an iPad to use throughout the cruise.

The Added Extras

Unlike other cruise lines that charge you for each and every shore excursion, Regent cruises come with a complimentary shore excursion programme! Regent believe that the excursion to the destination is as much a part of the cruise as the ship is so you shouldn’t have to pay over the odds on top of your original cruise fare to experience them.

The included excursions can be anything up to twelve hours long, with a full days sightseeing and transport around your destination.

Examples of great excursions included in your fare would be a visit to the Library of Alexandria and the National Museum in Egypt; going on a beer tasting tour in Bruges; horseback riding in Argentina or seeing the crocodiles and wildlife in Sydney.

The excursions also cover a range of activities that cater to different abilities. The tour will involve light walking, moderate activity or strenuous activity and it will be made clear whether there is a meal included or if it’s a seated tour etc.

However, there are still extra special excursions that you can pay for. They vary in price but are tours that can last up to sixteen hours and include trips such as a luxury catamaran & champagne sailing in Barbados, a tour and meal at a UNESCO recognised Chateau in Bordeaux or spending a day learning Balinese cooking techniques at a cooking school in Indonesia.

Regent also always include a complimentary hotel stay the night before your cruise so you have time to rest and recuperate before getting on-board your ship the next day. It also means that you’ll never have to worry about missing your ship! As well as this, your flights are included in your fare and may also have a complimentary pick up to take you to the airport.

Staff, Gratuities and Dress Code

With Regent cruises, all of your tips are included in your fare. Concierge and reception are open 24 hours a day and the only additional charges you may possibly incur are those from the spa, casino and salon.

The dress code on-board is much more relaxed than some other lines. You’re on a cruise to relax after all! Longer sailings (those of 16 nights or more) will have a formal night, but this will be clearly explained to you. This relaxed dress code (typically being smart separates and no jeans, no t-shirts) means you don’t have to pack so many clothes!
